HOW DID YOU GET STARTED IN CROSSFIT

I started CrossFit August 2014. I decided it was time to try something different. Walking and the Elliptical at home wasn’t exciting and it wasn’t really doing anything for me. It was too easy to make excuses. My two boys both told me that I could never do CrossFit; it would be too hard for me. Challenge accepted! The day I started basics is the day I was hooked and never regretted a single day.

HOW HAS CROSSFIT CHANGED YOUR LIFE OUTSIDE THE GYM?

I am stronger, happier and have more self-confidence to try new things. I just recently found a muscle tank when shopping that reads “She who Dares”… she who dares to try new things and to live life to the fullest.

WHAT WOULD YOU SAY TO SOMEONE WHO IS TOO INTIMIDATED BY CROSSFIT TO START?

ANYONE can do CrossFit. No one WODing with you will care your age, body type or strength level. Every single person in the gym is at a different level and everyone has strengths and weaknesses. All movements are scalable to start and you will surprise yourself how strong you will become in a very short period of time. Intimidation is fear. I came across a FB picture that hit home… F.E.A.R has two meanings: ‘Forget everything and Run’ or ‘Face Everything and Rise.’ The choice is yours.

IF THE BIGGEST SPARTAN RACE OF ALL TIME HAPPENED TO BE THE SAME WEEKEND AS ONE OF MY SON’S WEDDINGS?

This would be a tough dilemma to be in. I would try to convince my son to move his wedding date. I don’t think I would need to do too much convincing. Both of my boys (Eric and Nick) know how much me and their Dad (Andy) love OCR running. We have done many OCR runs since I started CrossFit and plan to do many more. I am very excited for the Spartan Race on June 24th at Lambeau Field. We have registered Eric and Nick to run with us. I hope my boys will have fun and enjoy the challenge. AROO!
