My name is Patrick Galligan and my family consists of my wife – Channon, daughter – Ayden (16) and Two dogs (Ferris and Gilly). I am the Associate Principal at Wausau West and love sports and reading (listening mostly to books and podcasts). I am also working on my Ed.D, so eventually I may earn the title of Dr. Galligan!
I joined CrossFit Themis as a means of getting in better shape, and also as a means of conquering the rope climb as I was preparing for a Spartan Race at the time.
I believe I joined 5 years ago in August, but I might be off by one year – I know Themis was open for a year before I joined. I joined the same week I ran the Wausau Marathon for the first time, which I think was 2014.
My biggest challenge in life right now is trying to help my teenage daughter navigate her high school years. She is a great kid, but school has not always been her favorite place, so we work hard to make sure we get done what she needs to do to be successful.
My favorite thing about Themis is that I love the variety of people and workouts we have – I get to know a whole new group of people outside of my normal social circle, and I also get to challenge myself physically with new workouts that are part of the programming – these workouts are often not ones I would choose to do on my own, and thus the reason I stay with Themis.
I have definitely gotten in better shape thanks to Themis, but like anything, my goals keep evolving – that is the beauty of Crossfit!
Some fun facts about me – I am a huge UFC fan, which is surprising to some who meet me and don’t really expect that. I also have traveled to Europe (Italy, Great Britain), China, and many places around the US (Hawaii 3x’s), and finally I LOVE Christmas music, and am one of those people who starts playing it right after Halloween.
